Lyrics Born Writes Lyrics

2

Lyrics Born, aka Sticky Rice, aka Sir Racha…

He’s an emcee, producer, and actor who you recognize from his insane music catalogue (Later That Day, Latyrx, Quannum Spectrum, etc.), including his anthem “Callin Out”, which I had the honor of directing the music video for, and his cooking show Dinner in Place.

He’s been a friend for decades, and in, I wanna say 2005, brought me on tour as his DJ all across Europe, Australia, Canada, Japan. And that was over the span of just a couple of months! The guy does not stop.

When filming INTERVAL, I’m only interested in the point of view that fans don’t normally get. So when LB invited me over to film him hand writing lyrics to “I Like it, I Love it”, I couldn’t hit record fast enough.

Mind you, I’ve seen him perform this song a million times, so it was really cool to observe the difference between performing, versus slowing down to write it out line by line. You can see him processing the lyrics in a whole new way.

You have to watch his cooking show, if only for the bumpers where he talk-whispers things like “prepare the marinade” or “assemble the sandwich”.

He’s got an unmistakable voice, he’s hella funny, and it’s an honor to have him on INTERVAL!
